Itinerary
What we’ll do:
From our meeting place at the Caudan Waterfront, we will first head into Port Louis and taste a few of our favourite local street food. We will meet Ahmed at his street food stand, hear about his daily routine and get to know him.
As we head towards our next food stop, we will let our eyes wander and admire the hand-carved basalt stones that make up some of the old buildings, canals and streets of Port Louis.
A few bites later, we will continue our tour and arrive at the centre of Port Louis. Here, we will stop at a corner snack to try a Chinese specialty, prepared with a Mauritian twist. We will then go to a popular Chinese restaurant, where many political deals were made in the past. We will take some time to sit and relax as we relish on yet another tasty dish.
Next stop: China Town! As we enter its gates, we are welcomed by fun street art and colourful murals that give life to China Town. We will learn about its history and that of the Chinese culture in Mauritius.
We will continue our food journey trying some classic Sino-Mauritian meals as well as more daring dishes which are surprisingly very delicious!
Before we leave China Town, we will stop by our favorite Chinese sweet shop for some sugary treats.
Finally, as we make our way back to the meeting place, we will take a slight detour to the authentic Port Louis market, finishing the tour on a fresh and sweet note.
